Default Rattling noise front left insanity

Greetings all,
I had to start another account because my gmail somehow is not a valid mailbox so this is "Mark O" AKA "Slowpokee". Any how, there is a rattling noise that I am somehow unable to fix on my mothers car. Her mechanic said it was the CV joint to which I didn't believe as the noise didn't really sound or feel like a loose CV joint. I replaced the axle and sure enough the rattle is still there. Upon further inspection, the bushings on the upper and lower control arms looked pretty bad so I replaced both upper & lower control arms, tie rod end and sway bar bushings. The noise is still there. I read in some other threads this rattle could be from the break calipers so I checked and the spring is not missing and the bolts are all tight. My last task is to replace the struts. Usually a worn strut will just affect the rebound and cause the car to bounce not rattle.

Before I drop another $300 has anyone experienced a worn strut that causes a rattling sound?

Best Regards,
Mark O

Is the rattle upon hitting a bump, or all the time? Does it happen or go away if the car is turning?

it happens only when hitting bumps. Turning doesn't affect it.

The sway bar links should have bonded-in bushings. I'd take a look at them again, because I've had new ones fail and develop a nasty clattering.

Good call. My bushing kit's sway bar links had a defect with incorrect thread directions and I re-used the old links. This makes sense if that part was the culprite!
