Rear bumper trim removal

Rear bumper trim removal
Does anyone know how the aluminum trim strip on the rear bumper is attached? Or, how to safely remove it for painting? BTW, this is for a 2002 Avant.

gotta pull the bumper off to do it safely...well, with the eurospec anyway.
US spec might be big enough to wedge out, but either way you will have to take your bumper off to put it back on so as not to damage your paint.
