Which Relays on my A4 1.8T?
Hi everybody,
I am searching for the function and position of the three relays located behind the ECU box.
The relay located on the left the first one don't work and I wanna change it. The 2 other ones labeled #219 and #369 work but I don't know their function...
Where Secondary Air Injection relay is located?
Thanks for your help

Have water in your ECU box?
Anyway, quick search revealed 219 is for the ECU power supply. It can cause all sorts of incorect behavior, one including the SAI pump cycling and cooling fans cycling.
The yellow relay is numbered 373, so it has been replaced at some point. Not sure what the other 2 relays are for, but under the guise of buying the relays, call the dealer and ask him.

Which Relays on my A4 1.8T
Hi,
Thanks for your answer.
Just to point out that in my 4 relays carrier behind the ECU box, there's no wire connection for the first relay located in the left side.
The 3 three other ones have wire connection (picture). The yellow relay was adapted! It's not a genuine part from AUDI! It's a relay from Mercedes! I have changed it! My sender don't tell me about this issue when I bought the car. I know the fault recently, my "CHECK" engine light signals on my dash. I opened the hood and the ECU box, then know the fault.
I read on the ECS tuning site that the #219 relay is for fan...
Thanks and all the best

That is what I suspected abut the yellow one. So replacing that one solved your problems or did you replace both it and 219? Also, did you ever figure out what the 373 and 369 relays are for?

I have already replaced the yellow relay but the CEL still lights on. I think I have another problem with my In-Line Check valve. I have to replace it also asap.
I have not replace the two other relays #219, #369...they r OK.
I just don't know the function of #369 relay.

I'm trying to find the air pump relay. I have the ECU box open and I unhooked the ECU. Do you need to remove the ECU to find the relays? Right now I don't see any relays. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

Hi member,
You need to open the ECU box which is located on the right side in the hood (driver side) to access to the relay carrier. There are 3 relays located behind the ECU box.
Good luck

Hi,
A bit late but for what it's worth:
Here is a diagram of the relays.
The second relay from the left is the Secondary Air Pump relay.
The first one would be used if you had an automatic transmission (multitronic) an/or a V6 engine... Or if you had a Diesel engine.
Cheers!

A4 B6 1.8T relays issues
Hi Member,
Thanks for your explanations concerning ECU box relays.
I think I have problems with my wire connection. All 3 relays work. I tolk saturday my mechanic to check the harness.
I vag the car and get this DTC fault code P1517: main relay: cir. faulty...
I will work on it and hope to fix this fault asap.
All the best
