RemoteTrunk lock-2002 A4 Avant
The only way the trunk button on my remote works is if I hold it for a second and the trunk then pops open. Is this a defect?? Shouldn't I be able to just UNLOCK the trunk with the trunk button rather than have it open?

no, thats how it works, you hold it down for second, shows intent so trunk doesnt just
open with you touching it.
thing is, it doesnt pop open, so if it happened by accident, you wouldnt know.

Re: but it will lock itself again after a short period of time so no one can get in
Okay...so I use the truck unlock on the remote to "pop" the trunk open (it opens just a little)......if I do nothing and just wait, the trunk remains open and remote is deactivated. Isn't there a way to just UNLOCK it without opening the rest of the doors??

ok...read closely
when you unlock the car normally, everything is unlocked....
when you press the centre button and hold it down for a second, it unlocks and "releases" the trunk meaning its free to go up without even pressing the soft touch boot release.
If you unlock the car and dont open a door or trunk lid within 60 seconds, the car locks again, but im not sure about the trunk lid locking again if you dont open it.

Some latch renengages if you don't open the trunk within a certain period of time...
The trunk will remain loose, and you will get a warning indicator on the dash when you turn the car on, but it won't swing open.
Come to think of it, I am only speaking out of experience with the Avant. Not sure if the sedan 'boot' is the same way.
