RPM Pulsing and Car Shudders Cyclically when Car Underload
I have a 2005 A4 B6 1.8t Quattro Automatic, 75K miles and am having transmission/RPM issues. At certain speeds under 50mph or when there is load on the car under 50mph (uphill) the RPM flutters down and back in a repeated pattern until I let go of the accelerator, or press down on the accelerator hard enough that the turbo kicks in or there is a gear change. The car idles fine, the car drives fine at higher speeds (or at least the problem is not noticeable at higher speeds). The shuddering/pulsing issue is not constant, but occurs in a pattern or cyclically until I pull off the pedal or push harder on it.
I have scoured the forums and internet, and have found plenty of shuddering problems, RPM surging issues, etc, etc, but nothing that really describes my problem.
Is it a TCU issue?
I don't mind spending money on a transmission fluid filter kit and getting the trans serviced, even if the chance is small that it may fix the problem, but do I run the risk of making the problem worse (or introducing other problems) with a kit given the transmission is permanently sealed by the OEM and not intended to be messed with?
