Default shifting... do you skip gears?

I can't say I've ever taken 3rd gear any where close to 6000 rpms when flooring it. I don't speed but I like to accelerate quickly.

I find that I'll shift in to 4th and already be at the speed I want to be in. Most of the time, I'll shift sequentially to 6th but I'm already at a good enough speed to be in 6th. Is it bad to skip from 3rd or 4th to 6th?

Default I go from 4th to 6th all the time.

That said, I spend a ton of time in 5th -- perfect gear for tooling around back roads at just above 40 MPH. I think it's all about where you are in the torque band. If the resulting RPM after the shift has you in the sweet spot, you're fine.

Max performance is another matter given that peak horsepower tends to be near the high end of the band.

Default Sure

Especially if going from hard acceleration to cruising, like down an Interstate onramp. As long as you're choosing the right gear for the engine revs/vehicle speed there's no issue.

I rarely did this in my 5 speed, but I'm finding it to be an option a lot more with the 6 speed.

Default Sure, all the time

On the highway, I do 6 > 3 downshifts all the time if I have to get around somebody.

I also do 3 > 6 upshifts if I've just merged on the highway quickly...like All Wheel Driver said.

Nothing wrong with that. You can even put into gear w/out pressing the clutch at those RPMs.

What RPM ranges are you refering to specifically?

Default I do, but not often ...

make sure your revs are in line when you skip.

rarely do i go from like 3rd to 5th. but downshifting is another story. drop down from 5th to 3rd often on the highway to pass. but i am rev matching and am pretty accurate.

... the beauty of stick.
