Should I Wax My Wheels? Has Anyone Else Waxed Their New Wheels Before Mounting Them? TIA ^_^

Dear Fellow Audi Enthusiasts,

Just received some new wheels today and was wondering if they needed to be waxed before being mounted. The wheels are in anthracite finish and was wondering in order to prevent or reduce the "baking" of the break dust inside the inner walls, if it helps to wax it beforehand. This is the first time, I have purchased an aftermarket wheels and have no idea as to how to take care of them. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance,
Oenophile

This is a good idea to reduce the brake dust and help to protect the finish

I waxed my wheels before I put 'em on. I also wax my winter tires after I take em off.

What kind of wax should be used?

It's really your preference. Whatever lasts the longest I suppose. I use Zaino...

or whatever I have on hand

Would you recommend washing the wheels then putting few coats of Z5 and Z7 in between? : 0

doesnt really matter

I just use the cheapest stuff that i happen to have lying around. I put it on every few weeks and it really helps with dust and cleanup.

I don't think that it's imperative, especially since Zaino is $$! But

I think the point is to just get it covered with wax.

Yes. I did a search on the detailing forum...m...

and there were several "studies" done by a few guys. They all seemed to agree on two products being very good (I'm sure there are more than two): 1 Grand Blitz wax for waxing, and P21S wheel cleaner for regular cleaning. I bought both and so far so good.
