Default SOME fuel pump noise normal? (changed fuel filter, faint cabin/rear seat fuel pump noise remains)

I replaced the fuel filter last night, the other one was really clogged up. Vacuum/buzzing noise much less noticeable outside the vehicle now, but faint vacuum can still be heard from inside the vehicle at the rear (idle, all windows closed, no radion, no A/C, etc).

Also, opening the trunk and placing one's ear against the trunk floor next to the back seat, you can really hear the pump doing it's thing.

Just wondering it SOME fuel pump noise is noticeable for everyone under totally silent cabin conditions? I'm starting to think the noise I'm hearing has always been there, but just started to pay attention to it when I read up on failing fuel pump issues..

Dealership service reps want 1/2 hour labour costs (~50$) just to sit in the car to diagnose, but they assured me changing the filter is all I had to do to my car at my mileage (40K miles). They also stated a failing pump would throw a code and give a CEL. While I appreciate their advice, they won't give a crap if I'm stranded next to the highway.. =)

Car is running well at the moment.

Default I would think when the cabin is silent, you would hear a faint noise from the pump working...

I just changed my fuel filter out this past weekend because my pump was making that vacuum/buzzing noise. Swapped the filter out and noise went away. I'll try to listen for any faint noises later today.

Default UPDATE: Just visited indy shop, they say noise IS noticeable but no to worry based on my mileage =/

I guess I'll have to go on their word for now, and change the pump when I get my Bentley manual.

Default How many miles are you at? I've read changing the pump is a PITA, doable but just

annoying.
