There's no point if you still have to put the key in. That's an extra step and it's stupid
I don't care for start buttons anyway...even the kind where you have to be in proximity. They don't wow me at all.

My guess that since the key has to be in the ignition, it's still a mechanical switch thus you need
to hold it until the car starts. All it's doing is replacing you having to turn the key and when you push the button it's doing the same as when you turn the key.
For the other systems you speak of, they are typically wireless with no mechanical switch I believe thus a signal is sent to a control module that turns the engine over until it starts for you.

I put a push start in my car
i got the button for free from ignited performance so i decided to put it in. fits perfectly where the cig lighter is. i can still opnen and close the cig lighter. however, the keys do have to be in the car but the keys cannot start the car. posted pictures in audizine. its a fun little mod.
