symphony speakers have to go!
ughh.. after 2 weeks of listenining to the symphony system..i'm very disgusted at its poor sound.. my plans are to buy two infinity kappa component systems (front door, rear door), and a 5 channel amp that'll power 4 door speakers and the default subwoofer.. i haven't actually taken a look at the speakers yet.. what size are they anyways? anybody see a problem with this while still keeping the head unit?

New A4 has 6,5" speakers installed in the front and rear doors...
wchich is a big improvement over previous gen A4, which had 4" speakers. If I were you I would replace front speakers and a subwoofer, which is easyly the weakest part of this system. If the cost is no object, you may replace the rear doors speakers as well. As all Audi head units use Audi own connectors, you will have to find a techncian who will fabricate custom chinch to audi adapter.

My opinion on Bose
Ok, Lots of folks talk trash about the Bose system (on this and other cars I looked at). I have to say I am thoroughly pleased however with the Audi/Bose setup. I am no audiophile, but I consider myself to have a discriminating ear. Bass is not the block shakers that some folks like, but its bass that is definitely AUDIBLE and the sub makes itself known. The highs are placed right where you want them on the same stage as your ears. The middle is very crisp and clear. Very clean sound all around.
Overall its a decent system for just about 99% of us. Now throw in a couple grand and any factory system will sound better.
Another thoughtful design I ran across was the perfect sized slot in the glove compartment to hold several CD jewel cases. I was so excited to see this. Never again will those damn cases be flying or rattling around!!

Re: My opinion on Bose
I am an audiophile and I must admit that audi has one of the best stock systems available. I am very pleased with the bose upgrade. It lacks a little in Bass, but that is nothing that a Basslink or add in sub could not fix.
My last car I had a 400 alpine,MTX,eclipse system and I am not missing it.
It is all a matter of preference.
Any stock system will sound better with an upgrade.
I am sticking to mine until I see some subwoofer manufacturer maximize on the perfect custom fit box/combo.
