Takin' the XM plunge...sort of...
Just ordered a Delphi SkyFi w/ car kit from that special on the web ($99 for the SkyFi and kit) for my wife's car. She needs an FM modulator to hook it up in her car, but if that works out well, I'm going to get one for my A4.
Unfortunately, since I already have a cell phone cradle in the car, I have to get creative on where to put that monstrous SkyFi. :) FM Modulator, Blitzsafe, Soundgate, Immodium Pew 6 Space Modulator? Which one to go with? :) |
FM modulator sounded awful in my car, so i went with Blitzsafe. Works great
by the way, i ordered the blitzsafe aux input adapter NOT the xm specific blitzsafe.
then i got an ip bus to rca converter and ran it into blitzsafe. this way, i have an aux input in case xm goes out of business or something.... of course, levels out of xm unit were too high, so i had to build a little circuit with potentiometers to "tone down" the signal. kinda like a volume control... |
Thanks!
Good idea on taking measures in case XM goes under, though I would guess Sirius would go first.

I had XM for almost 1 year with FM modulation and it sounded great. No problems.
I went to Sirius because I got the hardware free and absolutely NO COMMERCIALS!!!!
XM Commercials were starting to bother me. |
