Threw timing belt. how do i check for damage to rods, crankshaft etc.
I have an 2002 A4 B6 3.0 . It threw the timing belt while driving. I'm fairly certain it was the tensioner went bad because it was dripping fluid. The 1st and 2nd cylinder exhaust valves were pretty jacked. See picture. There's minor damage to the tops of the pistons. The crank rotates easily and the pistons seem move along with it as they should. Is there any other ways I can check for damage to the rods, pistons and crankshaft ? Also as I pulled the head there was still water/coolant trapped in the head. That didn't seem quite right to me. Could that be a sign of something or something that just happens. Any help would be great . thanks.
