Default Tried this on the A4 Cab Forum, but it seems those folks are too busy driving...

So...can I ask some A4 Cabriolet questions here?

I'm a longtime TT owner (De. 199) from the other forum and am looking for some help.

Here's what I am wondering, so far...

1. What are some things I need to know about this car (issues with either powerplant - 3.0 or 1.8T?) and is their a A4 Cab FAQ hanging out there on someones server?

2. Mods? Exhaust, Chip, more(?) - are they out there yet? I have experience with both APR and GIAC - either of those two have a chip yet?

3. What do you dislike about this car? Is it noisy to you at high speeds with the top up or down?

4. For those with a Auto Tranny, do you like it? This will be my wife's car and we'll keep the TT... she needs the Auto.

5. Finally, for those in LA, anyone know a REALLY good salesperson that I should check into for the purchase? I am not particularly thrilled with my former dealer (Beverly Hills), and would be more than happy to hook up with a cool salesperson so that we can have a decent buying experience.

We're looking for this exact car:

Black Ext,
Vanilla Int.
Polished Vavona panels
Heated Seats
Sport pkg.
Premium Pkg.

Thanks alot for your help! I already know this car will be de-badged, have new wheels, better suspension, and a aftermarket stereo system with subs... We'll start with that. :-)

Here's a pic of my TT... lots of mods and a very fun car.

Default As far chipping goes, GIAC has a detuned chip for the CVT. 208 hp and 218 lbs/ft of torque I believe

The chip info is for the 1.8T by the way. The CVT is an excellent tranny. I love mine, and everyone else here with it will say the same.

Thank you... still looking for some other "soft" impressions of the car.

Default Dealers...

I've heard people say avoid Rusnak, but that may just be for service. I got mine at Keyes- pretty good experience, no BS except for some guy in finance trying for the life of him to sell me LoJack. Painless negotiation, ~$1000 over invoice.

Default Well, with my options...

invoice is calling for a price of $34,947. You paid $1000.00 over? Good job! Any advice? That seems like an awfully fair deal.

Default Re: Well, with my options...

FIrst of all, I got a 2002 in September when 2003's were not too far off. That might have been the biggest thing because I didn't have to haggle too much.

I priced out everything on edmunds.com, invoice for a 1.8T CVT, non-sport susp. and wheels, leatherette, sunroof, black on black, and it gave me an invoice of ~$25200, TMV ~$27000. Sticker was something like ~$27500 (these numbers are rough, but you get the point). I figured ~$1000 was fair so I opened with $26k even, and a couple iterations got to $26225. That was it.

I think if you walk in ready to make a fair deal (not some stupid 100 over invoice), they'll be more willing to make it happen. BTW, my salesperson at Keyes was Anthony Libaridian. Seemed like a bit of an enthusiast to me- no real complaints.
