Default Trunk Question

Does anyone know what the hell I am doing wrong with the key fob. If I try to unlock my trunk with the remote, it doesn't work. I've tried to do it while it was locked and while it was unlocked, but the only way it works is by the button in the door? I just got my car, so I am new and I am still reading the manual, but I just remembered this has happened to me twice. Please tell me that I am missing something and that if I come out of the grocery store with an armful of beer I don't have to set it down and walk around and open the door and hit the button. Obviously, I'm an idiot and missing something. Anyone?

Did you press and hold the button for at least 2 seconds?

Default Why don't you just unlock the car and open the trunk ???

There's an electronic "trunk handle" above the place where the licence plate is that you just have to barely touch to open the trunk.

I don't see the point in the remote trunk opener when you have to touch the trunk there anyway to open it.

I understand that, but when I hit the button on the remote and then try to open the trunk, it is still locked. Yes, I can open the door and hit the button, but what is the purpose of the button on the remote then? Apparently, mine isn't working.

Default Couldn't Agree More - Trunk Opener on Key FOB is Redundant

If the trunk could "pop" wide open with the use of the button on the Key FOB that would be useful. Otherwise, in order to lift the trunk you have to touch the electronic opener anyways. German engeneering has taken a turn for the worse. I actually find the trunk button a pain - anyone else find they often accidently open their trunk? I've had my new A4 for 3 weeks and must've done this a dozen times so far. Thinking about having it VAGed off.

In order to use the trunk handle to open, all doors must be open as well.

Default No way-key fob is important (more inside)

I would prefer it to open like a Cadillac, but it doesn't so I will have to live with it but try to carry grocery bags in both hands and try to get your fingers to hit the button under the lip. It is much easier to have the key fob in you hand, click the trunk opener and just open it with your fist. Fob trunk opener is a needed function for this person.

Default The fob allows you to open the trunk without unlocking the entire car and re-arms the alarm ...

when you shut the trunk. The Beverly Hills salesman demonstrated this nifty feature to me so if I went shopping, I could easily drop off the bags in the trunk and free up my hands to do whatever.
