Turbo Timers: Do They Work? What's The Best Way to Cool Off Our Turbos?

Been asking my Audi friends whether or not Turbo Timers actually do work and the general consensus has been that they do not.

Three recommendation so far: 1. Pop your hood and let it chill for 3-5 mins 2. Do not use the boost and drive around for a min or two before you turn off the car 3. Don't pop your hood and let it idle 3-5 mins before you turn off the car

or Turbo timer which will essentially be like recommendation 3 but it will be the turbo timer doing it. Who here has turbo timers installed in your car? How did it work out for you? Any other thoughts in cooling our turbos?

Just drive easy the last few minutes of your trips, you'll be fine

i'm sure audi didnt intend for all the average drivers to need to let the car idle a few minutes before turning it off

I have an Apexi TT. Best investment ever!

It's one of those things that once you get it, you don't know how you lived without it in the first place.

i heard that the engine stays on when a turbo timer is installed....is this true?

yes it does.

I have the Greddy turbo timer, it works pretty well, i leave it off most of the time though

cuz the only time you really need it is when you run the car pretty hard before shutting down.
furthermore, you don't need it on for more than a minute or so because we have water-cooled turbos, so the TT is nice to have, but not necessary.
Here's a pic of where i mounted mine
