Default What was left of my belly pan after getting to my mechanic's shop...

I managed to get the pan back up and stay up for the most part before making the drive out to his shop. By the time I arrived, it had partially dropped back down and...well, see the pic =P

Looks like the road took a bite of it haha.

He didn't have any B6 A4 pans in stock but did have some other A4/S4 ones. The S4 one was pretty much the same except it just needed some slight modifications (trimming some plastic) and drilling two new bolt holes. So now I'm sporting a S4 plate for the time being...better than nothing protecting the underside.

He suggested I take a look at Diesel Geek's Panzer skid plate...thick aluminum and very durable/strong. With that, there would be no worries about snow or ice breaking that thing. I know I read about Winston's post and being stuck but that was 24+" of snow, don't think I have to worry about that in Boston. My question is, the Pazner plate page says its for the B5 98-05 Passat and also the W8...IIRC, that should fit the B6 A4 too, no? I thought I read about people fitting the Passat W8 belly pans onto our B6s.

Same ground clearance as the stock belly pan, if not slightly more...I may go for this as my replacement. Thoughts?

I'm almost certain some people have modified it to fit the B6.

Default Yeah, the only thing we had to do with the B5 S4 skid plate I've got now is make the two

holes to mount up to the front support above the bumper. Should be a relatively easy modification to do.

Default Damn I hate not having a good shop around me who knows crap like "Diesel Geek's Panzer Skid Plate"..

All I have is a dealer and an indy shop who remains confident in telling my wife a small puddle of oil under her turbo is normal and they couldn't find anything wrong....

I have the W8 pan on mine. Not an exact fit but way cheaper than the A4 one.

Default The B5 S4 and B5 Passat are the same. I have one of each in my garage

The passat had a bit of foam stuck to it for insulation or something, but otherwise is identical.

I agree that it will be very easy to fit it to the B6, Someone on AZ suggested covering the bottom with a clear bra material, as the snow doesnt stick to the plastic.

Default Cool, thanks. I'm not too worried about snow sticking but the frozen snow and ice chunks that will

rip through the plastic belly pan. Never heard of putting clear bra material on the belly pan before though, interesting idea.
