Default Whirring noise during acceleration

And its not the turbo.
I have become aware of a noise that sounds like a free wheeling stepper motor when I accelerate hard. Its as though there is a DBW controlled electric motor just behind the instrument cluster that spools up as I am accelerating then stops once I start to ease off of the gas. The noise is quiet and is easily masked by the radio.
I took the car to dealer and the dealer proceeded to re-align the engine / transmission to the chassis. Noise is still there and I don't have time to live at the dealer. The car a 1.8 with manual tranny, runs fine. No performance issues. I am inclined to ignore the noise until something breaks. Any thoughts?

Default

I think it does have to do with some of the electronical components.

Default I had the same issue...

...during a particularly humid day. The noise went away after two trips (just enough time to make my friends think I'm paranoid). I took the same course of action you're taking.
