Will bikes fit inside the Avant?

Hi,

I've been thinking of getting an 03 A4 Avant and was curious if a pair of mountainbikes (with the rear wheels still on) will fit inside with the seats folded. I would imagine they would fit with both wheels off.

Also, with both wheels off, will they fit in the wide way? (left to right as opposed to front to rear) Will they fit at all with the seats up?

I plan on getting a rack and I've searched for rack options here already. There are times when i would prefer to transport the bikes inside.

Thanks

yup-

one on top of the other - just bring some towels to protect the frames

I meant standing up or upside down on the handlebars.

Stacking bikes ontop of each other isn't the best option, although I have done it before.

sorry - not sure on that one...I suspect though

that youd have to remove the rear tire - then ya gotta deal with that chain f'in up ur interior- best option if your haulin two get the roof rack

I fit 2 mountion bikes in my 98.5 Avant, they fit easily. The 03 avants are bigger so it should be

even easier. good luck!!!

Actually, according to the latest Car & Driver, the new Avant is actually smaller...

...in the rear cargo area compared to the previous Avant. This is due to Audi pushing the rear seat back further to increase the room in the back seat.

Much easier throwing them up on a rack...

Nice rides!

I plan on using the roof rack, but sometimes, I want to keep the bikes inside, like when driving in rain, snow, heavy winds, long trips through areas that I know have lots of bugs, etc.

I really love how my GTI and Avants are real SPORT Utility Vehicles.

3 Mountain Bikes, 3 People

Two bikes needed both front and rear wheels off. One bike with the rear wheel on. One seat (60% one) folded down.

3 people, 3 bikes. No problem.
