Windows gouged after tint....need advice!
Sometimes I wonder if I should just buy a junker I don't care about to drive around.
About a week ago I found my first ding in the car. Someone bumped my bumper and dimpled it. Not too bad, no paint loss.
The day after I find it, I'm heading into work and a rock flies out of a truck and nails my hood. Gouged the paint a little, but not too bad.
So I went and got my windows tinted yesterday, against my wife's wishes. I took a look at it more closely today, and they gouged the back window. For those that don't know how they do tint, they lay the tint on the outside of the windshield to cut it to shape.
Anyway, so they are going to try to use some kind of compound to rub it out, but if that doesn't work, what should I do? It would be a little ridiculous to ask for an entire back window just because of some scratches, but on the other hand it wasn't like that when I took it in! Should I ask for a refund?
Anyway, some advice would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks,
Chuck

I say...
express to them their error and allow them to attempt the rubbing compound, which should work. Let them know ahead of time what you will expect as compensation in the event the compound does not work to your satisfaction. Perhaps half price for the tint service or express to them the same sentiment you have done so here "it was not like that when I brought it to you" and do not pay them at all for the tint if they are unable to meet your requirements. I am harder then most and would suggest you remain firm from your standpoint. If it were me and the rubbing compound did not work, I would have them replace my entire rear windshield, which will run aproximently $1000 including labor at any Audi dealership. If they do not agree, then I do not pay, period. How did you pay? If by a credit card, dispute it. Perhaps then next time they will take more care when dealing with an Audi. Let us know how it goes. Good luck to you.
