Windshield replacement with lease question

Windshield replacement with lease question
Our 2002 A4, which is leased, has a cracked windshield that needs to be taken care of. Does anybody know if the replacement windshield needs to be "official" Audi OEM glass to avoid issues at lease end?
I tried calling AoA about this, but they would just give me the stock answer of "we can only recommend sending your car to an authorized Audi dealer." Very annoying, since my dealer won't actually do the work but rather outsources it. What's more, the company they outsource it to gave us an estimate of $1100 even though the Audi parts department told us that OEM replacement glass was ~$280. I'm not sure how the place can get away with $800 in labor and markup!
For reference, the local Portland Glass gave us an estimate of about $500.
So, my question is, do I need to put specific glass in there or can I use any reputable glass dealer?
Thanks,

It's my first lease too, but I think we're safe. I had my windshield replaced through my dealer...
but they just farmed the work out to Safelite. I figure if it's good enough for the dealer to use them, they better not care when I turn the car in!

That depends entirely on the insurance company/policy
My insurance does *not* have a specific glass deductible, it's covered under the general deductible.
I also called Geico to see what they're policy was on this. In my state, NH, they won't do a specific provision for glass, and they cover it under the general deductible also.
So, check with your insurance agent.
With regards to it being under warranty, that will usually depend on how the crack appeared. I had a honda that I got the windshield replaced under warranty. In a nasty ice storm I was driving in, I think the combination of ice on the outside and hot defroster caused a stress crack in the glass (no crack before the storm). Before they would cover it under warranty they examined it thoroughly to find *any* trace of the glass being hit by a foreign object. With my Audi, it was a rock on the highway, and I didn't even try to get it done under warranty.
