Default winter wheel/tire question

for my summer setup i'm keeping my 18" RS4 wheels from the ultrasport package, but i have no interest in simply getting 18" winter tires to throw on the RS4's, as i love the wheels too much to put them into winter use. I was initially considering using a 17" winter setup because I don't really want to have to get my speedo recalibrated due to downsizing too much. Would I still be able to downsize to 16's without having to worry about recalibrating, or should I stick with my initial plan of 17's. Thanks in advance.

Default If you keep an overall diameter the same within 2% I wouldn't worry.

I'm off like 2.4% and things are still fine. Are you worried about the miles being logged?

Default You should be fine with a 215/55/16...that's what I use for snows.

Speedo will read .4% too fast...or about .2 mph when doing 60 mph...well within the allowable margin. Hope that helps!

Default whoa, sup Dig!

just want to make sure everything is calibrated correctly if i decide to go to 16's...not 100% which way i'm gonna go, but i'm not quite sure I want to spend the $$ to go to 17" wheels and tires for winter use....if i can find a good set of 16's, I may do that...you think 205/55/16's would be ok? (swing wheels on tires)...if i see a nice set available, i may hit.

I ran those wheels w/ that size tire for one winter and they worked great.

Default cool. you don't think downsizing from the ultrasport RS4's would be too much do you?

that's my chief concern with going to the swings

Your speedo would read 2.1% too fast...i.e. you'd be at 58.8 mph when speedo reads 60.
