I've seen people complaining about the slow starts if u dont rev at the 2-3 k rpm range.
Here in europe, my a4 has only got 150 hp. Looking at your remarks i become more discouraged every day : )
by the way where can i find some driving tips to make the most of this car, example in the starts, at highway..
thanks

Am driving a 180 hp Jetta 1.8T loaner right now
and every time I drive it I think what a ludicrous situation it is to have the heavier much more expensive A4 with 170 hp. The Jetta is within a whisker of my 3.0 in acceleration.
What possible reason other than marketing bull**** (to try to justify a bigger difference from the 1.8T to the 3.0) could there be to not have the higher power version in the A4?
If Audi had any brains, they would use the 180 1.8T AND bump up the power and torque of the 3.0, since it isn't anything great either.

Re: Am driving a 180 hp Jetta 1.8T loaner right now
yeah youre right but the only reason seems to be that there is a 2.4 version of A4 here in europe that comes with 170 hp. they dont make the 1.8t 180 as it would ruin the sales of 2.4
that's why i suppose

My boss drove the Jetta VR6 2.8L w/ 200HP and said it was very quiet and smooth and scary fast.
This VR6 is very smooth compared to the awful 2.8 in the previous generation A4.
Only issue was that this car was too powerful for fwd and could easily be put into a ditch in winter.
If I were Audi, I would give the A4 1.8T this engine and boost the 3.0 to 270Hp with the 2.7T from the S4.

in europe the 1.8T is 150 hp now.. in the last production year of the old A4
They came out with the 1.8T quattro, which packed in 180 horses, they moved back to 150 hp and had the 2.4 v6 with 170 horses.
Its the market for rapid but not ridiculously fast cars.
Most people are happy with this... enthuisiasts want every drop of power though
Thing is, this is all a mid term arrangement.
The 2.4 is a redundent engine, too little power for the cylinders.. 1.8T is old.
When Fsi becomes big, youll get the 2.0 Fsi with 150 hp. the 2.0T hopefully, and the 3.0Fsi.
