Car showed signs of longer than usual turbo lag from standstill, and at one point while at a traffic light idling, I heard a "bump" sound come from the engine bay, and the RPMs spiked to about 1000 then dropped back down to 800...car drove fine the rest of the way home. Hope it was just a hiccup.

HAHA, I do not have that problem :-)
The car drives (in Toronto as well) just like it did when it was +15.
Ahhh... I love my DSMIC... May be the DSMIC and I should get ourselves a room... Umm... Never mind.
Sorry, dirty thoughts :P

Ordinarily I would tell you to STFA, but I'll help...
DSMIC stands for Dual Side Mount Intercooler. Ordinarily the A4 1.8t comes with a SMIC (Yup, you guessed it - Single Side Mount Intercooler), but the euro s-line versions of the 1.8T that have 193hp instead of our 170hp came with the DSMIC setup from the factory.
Your SMIC is located on the driver's side and if you look into the smaller grille (the one right beside the foglight) you will see a radiator like thingy. That's the SMIC. The DSMIC setup makes use of the grille on the passenger side (which now is not open on your car).
DSMIC works as well as if not better than the majority of FMIC setups. FMIC looks really cool, but most of the time you do have to hack up your stock bumper somewhat. The DSMIC is completely plug-n-play because it is an OEM part.
Here are some posts about the DSMIC:
