Your personal experience: Is it safe to have 1st oil change at 5,000 m? (m)
It's now just short of a year since the production of my car. So my engine oil is about a year old. My car has travelled 7,000 km (so roughly 5,000 m). I don't really like to keep the oil any longer. Is it safe to change the oil now? I understand there has been plenty of discussions and posted articles on the theory. I'm after personal and practical experience here.
Has anyone ever had, or heard of, any problems by changing the oil at this mileage. My car consumed about 1/4 litre of oil in the first 2,000 km, and has not used any more ever since.
Since 1998, before learning about the importance of the original oil in engines (still don't know whether all manufacturers put break-in oil in the engine), I changed the oil on two other brand new engines (other brands) too early. One was a Mazda 4-cyl. engine at 700 km and the other was a GM 6-cyl. engine at 1100 km. I never had any problems with oil consumption and/or leaks despite going M1 5W50.

Many oil change intervals are suggested based on time OR mileage.
I think with my previous Audis the manual said a certain number of miles or 12 months, whichever comes first.
A call to your dealer or checking in the manual would certainly clarify the matter for you.

Yes its better to have it changed at 5k then 10k.
I talked to a few Audi Mechanics yesterday and Audi DOES NOT put Synthetic oil in the A4 from the factory. They highly recommend it changed at 5k intervals especially in Texas.
But that is your call. It was there recommendation and I will defintely go by what they recommend.

I heard it would be still good for seals and gaskets. As I asked Dennis...
do you believe that still dino must be used before 10 k (for the sake of seals)? What if I swithched to fully synth (M1 with 0 rating)? Is there a schance to get oil leaks?
