2.0T vs. 3.2
Hello everyone. First post. I would like to ask everyone's opinion on which engine to choose as I am considering buying a 2008 A4 S-Line. I'm actually downgrading (size wise) from an Infiniti FX45 (V8), hoping to get a better fuel economy out of the Audi. I would think that the 2.0 has a better tuning potential, however I'm planning on keeping it stock.
Also, I really like Audi's design, especially the interior, and I know that a new bodystyle is just around the corner, so in your opinion is it wise to get a current model (and get a great deal) or wait for the new one (possibly buggy in the first year of production). Thanks in advance for your feedback and I hope to be a regular here soon!

Re: 2.0T vs. 3.2
Get 2.0T if you value fuel economy over power. A no-brainer here.
Depends on your wallet. You can get good discount on the outgoing current model or expect no discount on the new model in 2-3 months.

if you want gas mileage, it's an obvious choice
as for the MY, once again it's obvious the last production year of the chassis will be the most reliable. you can cross your fingers and hope the b8 will be flawless, but the b7 is a proven platform.
honestly, it's under warranty... i'd wait for the b8. but if you're ancy, go for a 2.0T b7 a4 and see if there is a local stasis reseller for extra powah w/ warranty.

go with your gut on b7 vs b8. deciding purely on logic takes the fun out of buying a car.
the cars are quite different in size and appearance. should make forming an opinion easier.
that said, if it were me, i'd wait for a b8.

Wouldn't worry too much about bugs....
The B8 has been on the roads (in europe) for well over a year now and bugs are being worked out... so once it hits US soil it will be more like a second production year.
The B8 (drove it a few months ago in Amsterdam) is a superior machine... larger, better handling, updated interior, more sophisticated.
That being said, there are some great deals to be had on the B7.... especially lease. I just pulled the trigger on a B7 waiting on S4 B8 (2 possibly 3 yrs).

3.2 vs 2.0T
3.2 is:
- smoother
- sounds "better"
- more powerful (stock)
- somewhat "rare"
- not supported by "tuners"
- less fuel economy
- more expensive
2.0T is:
- less smooth than the 6
- very common
- a bit noisy.
- less power (stock)
- very easy to tune ("chipping", exhaust, etc)
- better fuel economy
- less expensive
The 3.2 cars also come with a few other extras (although, not sure anymore) that are optional on the 2.0T cars.

Thanks for your feedback. I just found a great deal
at least I think it's a great deal on a slightly used (7k mi) 2008 3.2 Avant S-Line in my favorite silver color. It has all available options incl. Titanium, Convenience, Bluetooth, Nav, etc. Original Sticker was $48k, my price is $35,500. Is this a good deal?

nice deal, nice car....not very good gas mileage though. Pete's right.
There's more leg room in the rear on the B8, (next gen) and you'll want that if you're downsizing. We have a B7 avant, 2.0T, and love it, but there's less leg room in the rear of that than your FX, which you may miss, depending also on how tall you are, and how far back you keep your front seats. The car you're looking at is certainly a great car, and if you're going to insist on keeping it stock, may be the way to go, but don't expect a ton of improvement in your mileage situation, probably some though over the V8. Don't be afraid to chip a 2.0T. It will always drive/sound different than your V8 or the 3.2, but it's a great compromise.
