Hi all, recently took out my 2007 A4 3.2 quattro cabriolet and got caught in a downpour and drove through a big puddle, the engine stalled right after and there was a huge oil leak where the car was standing,
tried jump starting it but engine won't stay on, finally got it towed

mechanic tells me air filter is filled with water and it caused the engine to go out. what are my options- is the engine totally busted or can i get the engine replaced?
any help?

If your mechanic looked at the car, what did he say? Did he give you and estimate to fix what is bad? Hydrolock is extremely major. If you get water into the engine, you never try to start it again. Besides, why are you driving through deep puddles? It sounds like it was more than a "little" one. Good luck. Hope it's not too expensive.
