25K service
Found out I did have the Audi care on my 08 A4 Quattro B7 S-line (just bought used w/25K miles) so I took it in for 25K service. They also changed the brake fluid. The care goes to 35 and 45K miles so I'm pretty happy about that. Asked about the 3 items I see here on the forums:
- PCV fix or upgraded valve
- Diverter valve revision D
- Cam follower
They noted that these are not covered by warranty so I requested a cost for parts and labor which they will call me with.

I'll let you know what the dealer wants to do these things. I looked into the three items and the only one that looked difficult was the cam follower so I was a little leary of doing that.

Believe it or not, the diverter valve is way more annoying. You have to lay on your back and try to reach up in there. I always ended up cutting my hands on this metal flex connector that's in the way. The cam follower is VERY easy. All you need is a long T30 screwdriver and an 8mm triple square bit. Oh, and by the way, you should not need to replace the cam follower right now UNLESS you have a cam lobe with the softer metal. I recently found an explanation for what happened and it was interesting. Audi's usual fabricator for the shaft lobes could not keep up with the demand so they had to have a second company do a certain percentage of them. This other company did not make them to spec and that is why the HPFP issue was only with a percentage of A4's. My A4 had 70k on it when i traded it in and the cam shaft was prestine at that mileage. My buddy has the same car with over 100k on it and his is still fine also. You should pull the pump and inspect the lobes.

Is a 2008 with 25k not under warranty. Why would you have to pay for these parts. I thought is was a full bumper to bumper warranty. I can understand breaks and tires but I would fight to have them pay for it.

It's under warranty but the dealer told me that these are not warranty items. If someone has information that Audi will cover these under warranty I'd sure like to know that.
