yes i know i have the right car but the wrong engine. so i have two choices: try and eek out additional HP/torque here and there, or sell my car. can a turbo charger be added to the 3.2? how about a supercharger? am i just wasting my money . . . i'm really lost here.

Not much you can do with the engine at the moment as far as I know. New exhaust might eek out 10 ft/lb of torque but most of the mods for the B7 A4 center around the 2.0T powerplant as you're probably aware. There was a supercharger for the old 2.8V6 engine in the B5 but I haven't heard of one for the B7 platform 3.2V6..however, that doesn't mean there won't be one in the distant future. If you're itching to start modifying, then I'd get hold of a good 2.0T with all the options you can find....then have some fun.

With the big turbo kits coming from APR, AWE, STASIS etc looks like HP and TQ numbers in the low to mid 300's...not bad for a 2.0T four cylinder!! Check out the following websites...
