Default A4 Avant owners.

Looking to switch my wife's Volvo XC90 for an A4 Avant.
We don't need the 3rd road anymore and we certainly don't need the large fuel consumption.
How useful is the rear space? Can it fit 3 large suitcases?
What has your overall experience been like?
Pictures will be appreciated.

Default Re: A4 Avant owners.

I'm on my second Avant (2006 2.0T S-line MT6) now, and you can get a lot of stuff in the back. The rear seats are also a 60:40 split, so you can pack extra stuff in there too. I have 28000 on the new one now and I've loved every minute of driving it..no problems yet. I don't have any photos of mine but there's a few guys who have posted pictures of Avants on this forum..I average about 24 MPG city and 31 highway (with the APR programming turned off...)

Happy shopping.

Regards,

Nick

Default 9 day roadtrip to canada

two suitcases, 24 water bottles, a pack n play, stroller (britax), two dufflebags a bag of food. There was more but I cant rememeber it all right now. Granted it was piled high but there was tons of room in there and you could still see out the back around the stroller which was one top. The seats do fold down but I prefer the kid rides in the center of the car so it can be hard to fold one of the seats down because its just on the edge.

Default It fits a large Rhodesian Ridgback just fine....

If that is any help. Also, we are able to get about as much stuff in the avant as we could in our X5.

Default Luggage and experience comments

I too have a 06 Avant 2.0T 6MT. I did not like the automatic--too much lag with the smaller motor. However, I love the 6 speed with this turbo. I am able to fit two large suitcases and standard carry-on suitcase without obstructing my rear window. However, if you do not care about seeing out the rear, it will fit 3 large suitcases no problem. I also have the S-line sports suspension with 18 inch OEM tires--love the stiffer ride. But, it is stiffer--comfort would dictate standard suspension with 17 inch tires. If you look in my sig line, we have an allroad and a new baby. I am able to fit the infant carrier in the center back without difficulty. I did go with the Avant instead of the saloon because the roof slope is less severe allowing more leg room in back. It is by no means generous but will accomodate two adults for shorter trips.
Cheers.

Default Wifey has the 3.2 Avant and I've used it several times to haul stuff...

1) Screen door for backyard sliding door (Home Depot).
2) TV stand for 60" tv (Costco).
3) Bring two large dogs to the dog park about every weekend.
4) Bought a bassinet, stroller and other baby stuff and got them to fit in there, too.

Only had it for a few months, but it's been pretty useful and glad we bought it. Funny thing is, I used to not like Avants. But here I am...a converted fan.

Default Also, if you run out of space, your car's roof rails let you do this:
