Hi,

I have Audi A4 B7 1.8T - engine BFB. Over last 4 months, had three occasions where after having used it i.e. engine was warm/hot, it wont take ignition and start up. Let it sit for a while, say 20 - 25 minutes, it would start up normally.

I was away and it had been sitting in garage for two months (started for 10 mintues each month of keep battery charged, not sure if it was required but anyway) and found a pool of coolant on the floor.

Not knowing what it currently had, I only topped it up with demineralised water. And it lost coolant again. I again topped it off with demineralised water. I had parked it for now and have only used it sparingly. it hasnt lost much coolant now, however i fear if i were to use it for a longish trip, i would see the not taking ignition behaviour again. This time it has a reason too, since the coolant is much diluted.

Any idea with what may be going on? Does it just need coolant flush and new coolant in proper ratio added or is it a deeper rooted problem? Appreciate your feedback, before I DIY or take it to a mechanic.
