Air conditioning question

Air conditioning question
With the winter slowly creeping out, i changed the temperature to 16 degree celcius recently.
The air was intially cold, but soon, it started throwing warmer air. It did not feel like the air is 16 degrees. Is there something wrong with the airconditioning??? What is happening here and how do i deal with it if its a problem?

What temperature did you have it set to?
There's a bunch of conditions needed for the compressor to run but I can't seem to recall it (something to do with ambient temperature, etc.)

Here's a guess
I would say that it depends upon the temperature within the cabin (or more likely, the temperature that your car computer believes the ambient temperature to be.)
The idea of the climate control system is to achieve and maintain a specific temperature. The air coming out of the vents is intended to increase or decrease the temperature of the car within the cabin (which I presume it measures either via a sensor or else by monitoring external temperatures). So the temperature of the air coming out of the A/C vents is not necessarily going to match the temperature setting on the controls.
So here's an example: suppose you set the A/C at 20C/ 68F. If the outside temperature is 10C/ 50F, then the climate control will blow heat in order to warm the interior to reach 20C /68F. If the outside temperature is 30C/ 86F, then the A/C will blow cold air in order to reduce the temperature. Same setting, different result.
I may be incorrect on some (or even many) of the specifics, but I am reasonably sure that this is conceptually accurate. Bottom line is that the car attempts to adjust to the temperature of its surroundings, rather than blow air at a specific temperature, regardless of conditions.
