What do the fill in the space with when there is no trip computer?

Default It is the red display.
It will still show Radio/ CD, Outside Temp and Range on Gas; you just don't get the actual computer that will tell you average mpg, average mph....

Default The color display's highly overrated.
IMO, the B6 computer was laid out better. The new one doesn't seem to have new features, it just trades usability for color.

Because the computers used to be separate, and you could easily toggle between them. Now you have to flip through all the computer 1 pages to get to computer 2 and vice versa.
