I just ordered a Thule rack for snowboarding. How hard is it to install? Will it damage the paint if I leave it on 'forever'?

Have one but need to get new footing for it
It will leave a slight mark but hard to see.... gonna buy some of that 3M and apply it to the area where the foot will rest.
I left mine on for a full year on my old A4, just make sure the area is cleaned and has a good coat of wax. Easy to install.

Forever is a mighty long time.
I left a Yakima on the roof of my bright red Integra for years... and the rest of the paint faded while under the footings, the paint stayed brighter.
I would only use it when you're going snowboarding. Personally, I just put my 164 in the trunk and fold down a seat.

Also keep in mind you lose about 2mpg while driving with that on
you take a huge loss with aerodynamics for that thing. I normally got 18-20 mpg on the S4 and with my rack, i consistantly got 16 mpg.
I basically put it on when I used it and took it off within a few days. It's not too difficult, just use a towel on the car when placing it down. BTW I had a Yak rack.
