Anyone know what the ECM update re-flash actually does?
Just had my 15k service done and the dealer did the ECM update. I've got a 2.0QTip and it does seem like the hesitation from a stop isn't as bad as it used to be, but that might be wishful thinking.

Re: +25hp
The upgraded ECM at the 15k service felt as sluggish as did the GIAC stock mode. When the GIAC software was reflashed, it was again a big (and pleasant!) contrast. In other words, it didn't feel as if the dealer upgraded added 2.5hp, much less 25.

Don't think it's for Tip only. Would be nice to get more non-jokester info!
There's a copy of the 5 pg. service bulletin (zip file) in the 2.0FSI engine forum posted by John Straham (3rd page). The re-flash is specified by vin #.

Had this done about 500 miles ago...
The service manager told me that the flash was just to change the thresholds that the ECM uses to monitor various parameters. Apparently they were too strict, causing the check engine light to come on, and creating panic for no reason. Take this as you will, it's just what I was told.
I noticed zero difference in the tip lag. It was more severe in cold weather, and at times all but disappears in warmer weather, but I've been experiencing it again lately. :/
