Anyone wish they got a 3.2 instead of a 2.0T?
I was ready to trade my '04 TL for a 3.2 6MT A4 Avant. With the cost of gas and Audi's excessive markup for 2 cylinders, I now think the 2.0T is a better choice.
I test drove a 2.0T 6MT yesterday and it has plenty of power. My only concern is that the engine is quite a bit louder than what I am used to. My previous Audis were a 2.7T allroad and 2.8 A4s.
My initial impression was that the louder engine made the A4 more fun to drive than my powerful but quiet TL. I just wonder if the engine noise will be annoying long-term.

I could not agree with you more regarding your insights on the 2.0T. I LOVE the sound of my 2.0T Quattro! This past August I was looking for a car that I could use as my daily driver and my requirements were all-wheel drive, good on gas, and style. I did not want a six cylinder-engined car. I couldn't have chosen a better car, in my opinion, than the Audi A4 2.0T Quattro. My other car is an `04 Lexus SC430, which is a nice car (but I'm seldom driving it now that I own the A4). The A4 is a blast to drive, and I'm not just talking about driving fast (although the A4 does that well too). The handling of the A4 Quattro is simply astonishing. My A4 is MT, and I usually drive it in "tiptonic" mode. I find that when it's needed, the turbo can kick-in really well in 3rd, 4th, and 5th gears. I am not a newcomer to Audi; I owned Audis from the mid-`80s to early-`90s, with varying levels of satisfaction. As far as I am concerned Audi really nailed-it with the "B7" model.

Wow, the sound is prob my least favorite thing about the B7.....
Do like the way the motor feels though. Also while I'm used to it now, I like the steering of my B6 better.

Nope, love the 2.0T
I always preferred the smaller turbo engines from Audi (though wish they would bring back that 2.2L 5 cylinder turbo!) The 2.0T sounds great at high revs.... whenever I get a chance to drive through a tunnel with the windows down, I'll kick it down a gear and get on the throttle. The one noticeable thing with the 2.0T is that is so much smoother than the 1.8T. Audi did a pretty good job with the new engine I have to say.

I prefer Audi's turbo engines in general
I love the 2.7t I have in my car now (since it's running again) never have been a huge fan of Audi's NA v6's they are decently powerful and smooth, but lack character.

Different sound is due to FSI...
Yep, all those FSI engines will sound "rougher" than what you're used to. My '98 B5 1.8T was silky smooth and I was put off by the B7 sound. However, at highway cruising speeds it is very quiet. Only under hard acceleration is the rougher sound noticeable.
