ashtray lid wont open fully
 

The lid that folds back over the ashtray only opens about half way. There aren't any coins in there and I can't tell what's obstructing. Any tricks or advice?

Did you take it out?
 

I had this same problem and just fixed it the other day. I took the ashtray completely out (screws are found under the shift boot cover) and found 28 cents blocking it from opening fully. I then promptly took out all the rest of the change that was in there and found a better home.

Happened to me once. It was change.

stop putting change in the ashtray !!!!! its so annoying when customers come in and say there ashtray wont open and you take it out and theres like $5 in pennies behind there and then they get pissed at us that its not covered under warrenty bc they cant put there change in a bucket in the house.


sorry im venting lol but yea pull up the shift boot then the trim (held in by clips) then there are 2 screws ... you might have to move the a/c control head

if so then you have to remove the radio then pull out the a/c controler head and the ashtray should slide right out
