Hey,

I am about to lease an '08 A4 with Nav/iPod integration, but I am still confused on a couple of things.

1. I have read that I can still play regular audio CD's in the Nav DVD slot. Is this true? Does it display the CD information/function as it would with the regular 6-disc changer?

2. When I have my iPod connected to the glove-box cable can I still control the iPod through the click wheel controls? The whole 5 playlists/entire library does not look very intuitive.

If you put a standard CD into the Nav slot, the head unit will treat it as the 7th slot in the CD Changer, and you will have all the same functions available as with the CD changer. In fact you access that disc by selecting "CD/SD" until the changer is displayed and then scrolling down to disc #7.

Also of interest is that if you put an .mp3 CD in the Nav slot, it will treat it as a 3rd SD card slot and you will find it under the "SD" menu.

Yes, you can still control the iPod with the wheel controls (up track, down track)...if the iPod interface is still the same in the 08 as it is in the 06, then it's still clunky...I've never bothered using the playlist feature as I've got a crap load of songs on the iPod and usually just put it on random...it's amazing how many songs/albums you forgot you had! It doesn't display any track info in mine either..just the number.

Yep, the iPod will not respond to any input whilst connected...probably to stop you mucking about with it while you're driving!
