I'm 99.8% sure it's a bad turbocharger but just making sure before I spend about $1k on the thing. It's smokes under hard acceleration (around 3000rpm) and then starts to sputter. Car burns oil like gasoline (about a half quart every 300-500 miles or so). Before it got this bad the car would feel quick in cold weather and sluggish in warm weather. Turbocharger right? By the way, I was planning on ordering the turbo from the company that makes them for Audi (BorgWarner). But is this the only option to get an OEM turbo besides the dealership? I've seen other sites selling "OEM" turbo's (turbochargerpros.com, buyautoparts.com) for around $700. Any information on this would be helpful!

Ive used Tim's Turbos - Turbocharger Rebuilding and Sales to rebuild a few oem turbo's. Last time he charged me $350.00 with all upgrade goodies. He has a fast turnaround time usually less the 48 hours.

Thanks for the info. I never had any experience with a rebuilt turbo. How many miles have you driven with your rebuilt turbo? Any problems?

Ive got about 15k mils on its since the rebuild about 2 years ago. No issue's. He even clipped the fins @ 15 degree's to improve the mid range flow
