Bose sounds like ****
I sat in a 2006 2.0 S-line that has nav Plus and bose. It was not as loud or did it have that dep bass as my 2003 A4 3.0.
I taught that the guys were just being overly dramatic when they said that the bose did not sound that great. but they were right. we listen to the cars side by side, and my current car sounded way better.
The car had the bose decals on the speakers, to me it sounded like the regular factory system. What is Audi doing?
I ordered the bose in my car new car (on order) because i taught that it would sound like my current system. i am a true audiophile, and even the bose in my current car could be way louder.
Audi needs to step up and do something about this.

I just bought one today and I thought it sounded just as good as my 2000 S4
My head unit is the regular stock unit not the NAV.
It kicked pretty good with all the levels set to netural.

Bose is not audiophile quality
It is mass market name penetration for people that really dont' know what audiophile quality sound is. I have it in my car because it was the best way to get the nav/sat combo. I dont think it sounds any better than my factory stereo in my Boxster, even with the top down! When B&W or Thiel start making car audio equipment, things may change.

Must be something wrong with yours..have it checked out
I had the Bose in my B6 and now on the B7. It sounds really good at all volume levels with plenty of lows and highs.
Maybe the subwoofer wasn't hooked up? or defective?

Good enough for me
Listening environment in a car isn't the best, but at least there is a lot more bass than the Blowse in my 2001. Put it this way, there's enough bass (bass set to +2) to cause an annoying rattle around the sunroof.

For the ultimate system you've got to get an S8.
<center><img src="http://gallery.audiworld.com/albums/2007s8/d3s8009.jpg"></center><p>Then you can get the 1000 watt Bang & Olufsen advanced audio system for $7,800.
