Bumper Repair
So I was rear ended the other weekend and I got around to having a body shop take a look and give me an esimate. The bumper is scratched up a bit and has a slight dent in it. The shop foreman was brought out to crawl under the car to see the extent of the damage, evidently there are some internal parts broken as well. So I asked the foreman if they would replace the bumper due to the dents. He stated they would not, that they would heat it up and smooth it out and that this was preferable to a new bumper b/c a new bumper is harder (or just as much work) as repainting this bumper. This seems odd to me. Any thoughts?
So long as my bumper looks good as new I don't really care what they do. Although there were a few other scratches and dings I wanted out of the bumper that pre-existed the current accident!
Thanks

That is a tough one, I had the same thing done and there is now a slight deformation (very hard to see).
If I was to do it again, I would look into buying an new one (maybe aftermarket), doing all the prep work myself and just taking it to a shop to have it sprayed.

Thanks, I suspect I'm not quite that picky and I'm not sure I would even know what the proper prep work would be on the replacement bumper, so I suppose I'll take my chances with having it repaired.
