A/C Issues (HVAC Guru's please help)
Hi, long time reader, short time poster...
The A/C stopped working on my 06' A4 after I did my timing belt last week, I don't think it's related, but I posted just in case. When I try to select auto it only allows the ECON mode and won't engage the A/C clutch. About a month ago I noticed that when it was running for extended road trips >1 hr the evaporator and A/C lines would freeze up restricting airflow. I'd put it in econ for a bit then it'd be fine for another hour. I'm thinking the orifice valve is either broke or blocked. Hooked up a VAG-COM and here's what it's telling me:
0.0 % A/C Valve (N280) Duty Cycle
100.0 % High-Pressure Signal (G65)
33.0 bar Refrigerant Circuit Pressure
4.0 Current Shut-Off Criteria (Engine Not Running)
1.0 Last Shut-Off Criteria (Compressor Pressure too high)
12.0 Second to Last Shut-Off Criteria (Request from ECU)
1.0 Third to Last Shut-Off Criteria
29.0°C Fresh Air Intake Duct Temp. (G89)
14.00 V Supply Voltage (Terminal 30)
28.0°C Temperature Actual (G60)
**When I hooked up a pressure gauge to the low side it was showing 110 psi (way too high)
1 Fault Found:
00819 - High Pressure Sensor (G65)
30-00 - Open or Short to Plus
Any ideas or insight would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
-Dave

So took my car to a hobby shop and plugged in the high and low pressure ports. Looks like the sensor went bad. Both ports with the system off are saying 110 psi. So I've got a g65 sensor on the way. Fingers crossed.
