Default Cable Hood

The cable to open the hood of my 06 A4 2.0T broke or got loose on the hook end, any suggestions on how to pop my hood open without breaking anything? Has this happened to anyone?

Default Tried already

called two local dealership and they did not know; both told me to stop by and they would probably break something in the front to gain access to the hook.

As tight as the engine compartment is, I don't think its really going to be possible to get at it from underneath. I'd say your probably looking at a new hood or grill depending on which way they break through if they cant fish up to the latch.

It appears that there are 2 T-30 torx bolts holding the latch to the chasis. The space between the hood and the grill appears to be extremely tight but you may be able to slip a 1/4 in drive in each side if you gently wedge up each side. The hard part will be picking up on the torx socket in the bolt head, but if you can completely extrace the two bolts you may then be able to lift the hood high enough to release the U bracket. I see no way of doing this from the underside of the vehicle. Is the cable broken at the hood latch or the interior lever? If it is inside at the lever you will have a much easier time by just picking up on the cable with a pair of vice grips and pulling to release the hood. Good luck.
