Default cam issue - AOA WILL COVER !!!!

I just called AOA out of curiosity. They said the cam will be covered under warranty extension for 10 years/120K miles !!! no recall, I asked the rep "so basically, we just wait for the car to break down and then the cam is covered if under 10/120K", she laughed and said yes that's correct.

Apparently this was just decided, notices haven't gone out yet. So make sure AOA has your current info.

That is good news. I'm a little bummed I decided to replace my cam follower for $250, which I now have to eat. Was hoping they would cover the preventative maintenance. Guess not?

if you have documentation for the cost, I would submit to AOA. No guarantees, but I think generally they will reimburse for something they decide to cover later on. Only issue might be for a DIY ...

just call and give your vin or if you've ever had it in an Audi dealer, give the dealer name and they'll get all the info directly from them.

UPDATE: While contacting AOA 2 days ago and discussing the dipped headlamp issue my car has been having since 45k miles, I brought up the cam issue again with them. They have decided to honor the warranty they issued for dipped headlamps back in DEC. '10 I had documentation stating that the headlamp dipped code is on... and a replacement for $450 on my service invoice from when I was still under warranty back in 9/09. They are replacing my xenon headlamp at no charge. Audi rep. also mentioned there might be a new campaign for cam follower, hpfp, camshaft issue. There IS a campaign in the works and my car is at the dealership being fixed. She mentioned that the campaign is still so new and that Audi is still working on sending out the details for it. This news made my year. I have been driving the car broke for the last 20k miles with one dipped headlamp usually. Hopefully I will have no hassles from the dealership for payment or bad service.
