Camshaft being replaced
I have an 2.0T automatic and the car has 37,000 miles on it and it went to the dealer for a "check engine" problem. The dealer is now replacing the Camshaft. They stated that is not a common problem, but they have seen this before on this yr and model. Has anyone else had this problem? I cant believe that this problem occured in a car with 37,000 miles.
Once the dealer replaces this part, should there be any difference in performance?

Search cam lobe issue or high pressure fuel pump and cam lobe.
More than likely the cam lobe that drives the high pressure fuel pump has been scored/machined by the fuel pump lifter. Usuallly means new fuel pump and cam.

The cam wear issue is actually a very common problem. There is a technical Service Bulletin for it. It replaces the cam and the cam follower for the fuel pump.
Once done, the car should perform like it used to.
