Default Carbonio Cold Air Intake - anyone on the fence about this?

I just installed a Carbonio Cold air intake system on my B6 A4 1.8T car..and had a few days to play with it on the street/highway..and since the same unit works on the B7 2.0T (I have been told), I felt compelled to post a link to a post I put in the B6 A4 forum, since this might help you guys that are considering such a unit. Check out the link below.

Link to post about Carbonio intake for B6 A4 1.8T

Default Intake for the B6 won't fit on the B7 from what I understand

One of the guys did some data collection on this on a stock 2.0T - no significant or noticeable change. Data was collected through the HEXCOM tool and the MAF did detect an increase air flow of course, but with respect to requested/actual boost levels, this remained the same.

Now if you're chipped then yes, there is an increase in performance.

Default Yes, with stock car I would expect minimal gains...

My intake temps were about 8 degrees colder...better flow thru the MAF...boost was down slightly because the chip was not tuned specifically to having an intake. To get max benefit out of the intake..the chip tuning has to be tweaked more..not just an out of the box chip. Jeff Moss at Torque Factory could easily work with Garrett at GIAC to get max benefit out of this set-up. Jeff has already spent some significant time on my car tweaking it already.

Default It's virtually identical to the B7 intake. Just moves a couple placments of items on the one side..

of the box. Very similar setups. You are not likely to see increased boost with an intake. You may see incraesed onset (better throttle response) but not likely increased boost. Boost is controlled by the ECU. For example when porting and polishing the intake manifold you will also not see increased boost but will see increases in hp. cheers! Mike

Default Going in again tomorrow for some work...

He may be able to squeeze me in for the dyno, but he's not sure. He said he may just have time for the flash. If not, i'll do it next week or so. cheers! Mike

Default Ah

Guess they needed a test car here in Toronto to test fit things to make sure.
