Changed the foglight bulbs, took 20 seconds -- did not have to remove the bumper (PICS)
Literally 20 seconds. About 2 seconds to pop the front panel off and then 15 seconds to reach behind the foglight housing and unscrew the bulb from the housing and pull it out to switch bulbs. I was doing a search on the B6 A4/S4 forums since the foglight grill looked the same and one person mentioned that there should be tabs. I examined the foglight grill section and saw that there were 2 tabs that all you need to do is pull out and the grill pops right out (snaps right back into place when you're done). Swapped the bulbs, tested it out, and it was good to go. So I guess this is the first 'official' how-to on swapping out the foglight bulbs on a B7 A4/S4 since I didn't find any when I did a search. Out of 1-10 difficulty, it was maybe a 2 since it may be tricky getting the bulb back into the foglight housing if you're not used to it.
While I was in the mood, I also took out the wedge bulb that was being used for the running/city light.
HERE'S A TIP: do not completely take the wedge bulb out of the socket or the computer will give you a "bulb is out" picture on the dash telling you to change it. So I just pulled the socket out of the housing and tucked it away in the little area that you reach in to change the bulbs out. That way the bulb still lights up but is not visable. Also very easy to get to and very easy to do. I thought about putting some PIAA superwhite bulbs in place but I just wanted the clean look of the HID headlights only and no other light source in the headlamp housing.
Mods completed:
- covered annoying light under Airbag warning light button
- changed foglight bulbs out to yellow H11 bulbs
- tinted the windows last week
Still to do:
- lowering the car this weekend
- meet up with another member this week to use his VAGcom to get rid of the seatbelt chime
Below are some pics of how it now looks with just the HID headlights on with no running/city light on and the foglight assembly. Should be pretty self-explanatory.

2 things...
Yes...the S4/Sline have the removable inserts, and be careful were you are pulling lights out and tucking them away, they could get hot enough to melt the wiring in your housing. Just a thought.

Excellent writeup Steve. I now have ideas for my next 2 mods...

I think Im gonna go with the Hoen Xenonmatch bulbs for the fogs (that was my setup on the B6). For the citylights I'm gonna go with my B6 setup too which was Hyperwhite led's and Load equalizers to get rid of the bulb out warning. The pic above was from my B6. you can see the led citylight which complimented the Xenons very well.
