Damn! Our clutches give off a DISGUSTING odor...
After a hard launch... When I used to launch my Mustang, it gave off an odor, but NOTHING like what comes off the Audi's!!! Anyone else notice this as being a bit MORE gross than the usual clutch smell?

If you're smelling your clutch then your clutch is slipping way too much
Launching a heavy AWD car is totally different from a RWD car.
From my experience no need to rev it no more than 3000RPM but keep it above 2500RPM, then release the clutch and get on the gas at the sametime quickly but not too quick that you're feeding it too much gas while the clutch isn't fully released and burning the clutch or feeding not enough gas and the clutch released and bogging the engine.
Smell? That's the normal smell for burning clutch in the A4s.

I'm not confused about what a good/hard launch is...
I used to bracket race my Mustang which was a 5 speed that ran 12.80s all day long - I know what a good launch is - TRUST ME.
My point really (perhaps I shoulda made myself more clear in my post) is that the clutch in these cars seems "soft" in that it smells after it gets abused... even a little abuse.

There are some tougher aftermarket clutches out there that will put up with the abuse
Put it this way, the A4 as it is from Audi isn't meant for hard launches all the time.
