Default Discuss Tint?

I'm thinking of doing a mild tint, but I don't know jack. I've been reading a little bit online. What does a 50% or 60% tint look like, and is it enough keep the car cool on a bright day? What are other issues to be aware of?

What are your tint stories?

Default 50% or 60% tint would be a waste of money. Pennsylvania does not alllow any tint on the front side

windows but for the last 6 years every car I have owned has had 20% all around and it has never been an issue. And the car always passes inspection too. If I were you I would go no lighter than 35% or you will probably be dissappointed. BTW. Darker interior will make the tint look a bit darker.

Default like dutchy said.... it's a waste of money.... i as well have 20% all around on my car...

find out what the allowable percentages are in your area and if you are willing to go beyond them... my state has lower percentages allowed (so i'm just barely illegal), but they really don't care at all down here

Default I have 30% and in my opinion it is perfect. It is still light enough not to obstruct vision at night

but still dark enough to cut the light coming in, making black leather bearable in the summer.

Default you can still easily see out with 20% ... and i've driven 15% at night as well

15% was also not terribly hard to see out at night... it's when you get down to limo tint that it's actually hard to see out and i have a friend with limo tint sometimes he has to put his windows down at night cause he can't see out

Default Do you want tint for looks or for heat rejection?

I wanted both and went with Huper Optik film.

Their 50% film I have on my front windshield, their 40% film on tll remaining windows. It rejects as much heat, if not more, than standard limo tint

Their latest 60% ceramic tint is so light you can hardly tell it is on your windows but rejects a lot of heat. I would reccomend that you go to a shop that carries Huper and check it out.

- with the ceramic on all windows the car can be sitting in the sun all day and when I open the door the interior is warm but the leather seats are not hot to touch. my chrome shift **** is NOT hot either. these facts alone were enough for 6 of my friends to get the film applied on their cars.

- the max I have ever run the A/C in the summer is 3 bars to stay cool. the heat from the sun feels like a warm breath on your skin if the A/C is not activated.

- the interior of the car actually heats up if I roll down a window. if fact if you sat in a seat with the sunlight hitting you and I roll up the window you will feel the heat go away.

Default I want it just like yours...

maybe with 50% all around except the windshield.

That's exactly what I had in mind. And with just a touch of amber to warm up the gray (mine's Quartz; yours is Atlas maybe?).

Excellent pics, thank you!!

Default Huper 50 all around will look almost like OEM tint to a police officer.

It is a shade lighter than what you see on my car and I had it installed on my mom's Subaru and it looks like factory tint.

The ceramic film is grey in colour and works with the OEM greenish tint to make that smoked out look I wanted on my ride. My car is Atlas Grey.

I think you would like how the car looks a lot with the film applied and when you feel just how much heat it rejects I am positive you will consider putting Huper 60 or 70 on the windshield to block out the remaining heat.

If you were in Vancouver I'd give you a demo just so you can 'try before you buy'

I appreciate the offer. Your car is just hot.

I'm looking for someone in town that does Huper. 3M is a hometown company and that's what I've found. I think I'll email Huper and get a list.

I'm grateful for your help. Let me know if I can ever do something for you.
