Default Does mid-grade fuel decrease mileage on 2.0T?

Is that a fact or a myth if you use 85 octane instead of 92?

I don't think you can use 85... 87 is the minimum.

Default Yes... Use the recommended or higher.

Your Audi has a knock sensor that detects lower grade fuel and will richen up the mixture, or adjust boost/timing to lower power, or both--> either of which means worse fuel mileage.

With out a knock sensor, lower grade fuel would cause detonation in higher compression and turbo engines. Detonation can cause engine damage and be VERY expensive to fix.

SO... that said, can you run lower octane fuel- yes. Is it a good idea? ...not by any stretch of the imagination.

Default seriously, it doesnt cost that much to use the premium

.10 cents x 16 gallons is only going to cost you 1.60 more to use premium. why would you use anything less that hurts the performance of your car

Default unless the details are, "I can only get 85 octane where I live"

it's ridiculous.
