Does turbo lag vary from car to car?
Test drove the 2.0T quattro and I really didn't notice much at all (albeit I was distracted by the hundred other things the sales guy was talking about).
Some posts seem to describe in detail some very bad lurching and hesitation. Just wondering.

Re: Does turbo lag vary from car to car?
My lurching/hesitation went away after a few months. I think it was both a combination of learning to apply throttle in a manner that reduces the problem and the car adapting to my driving style.

Seems less and less with each new engine design.
Everyone is saying the 2.0 has virtually no lag. Yet I recall people saying that when the 1.8 came out and mine definitely has some lag. I haven't driven the 2.0 yet, but it sounds like it's one of the nicest turbos available.

Audi decreased the overall drive belt length on the 2.0T
they decrease the size of the A/C pulley and shortened the belt .
With this decrease in length allow for less drag and increases throttle response, similar to the Neuspeed power pulley on the 1.8t

2.0T has high compression, huge improvement in throttle response over 1.8T..
I had a 1.8T, the new motor was such an improvement over the 1.8T I made the switch. It's still not like a naturally aspirated motor, but it's damn close. No stumble, linear power curve on the way to redline... good stuff.
